Signs You Might Be Dealing With A Supernatural Item
Many of our clients comment on how certain possessions have an “air” about them. They might feel like someone is watching them, hear voices or see apparitions of loved ones whom it belonged to. But more often than not, smaller occurrences happen that are less extreme, and subsequently less likely to be noticed. These occurrences could be due to a myriad of things, but if they’ve only started recently after acquiring an item, or if they seem to have an attachment to a specific thing, you may very well be dealing with a possessed item.
Temperature Changes
Sudden drops in temperature and instant cold spots are an easy way to tell you might be dealing with something otherworldly. After ruling out that the air-conditioning unit isn’t pointed directly at you, and didn’t just suddenly turn on, you could count this towards evidence that something paranormal is trying to communicate. The reason for this is because in order for a spirit to do what spirits do, they require energy. They pull this energy (heat for instance) out of the air around them, causing the temperature to drop suddenly and giving subsequent goosebumps to the closest person. Chilling!
Lights Flashing or Failing Technology
We’ve all seen the lights flashing in the scary movies, but when it starts to happen at home you might need to take a closer look at your surroundings. After ruling out faulty electricity or bad bulbs, you might just realize something on the other side is trying to get your attention. We’ve had our fair share of bulbs blowing here at Mystical Products during our “Supernatural Quarantine” phases, and more often than not it gives validity that the item we are dealing with does indeed have something attached to it. Lights flashing, phones calling friends randomly, television turning on or off or channels changing are all signs that you’re dealing with something supernatural.
Weird Smells
The smell of sulfur when you walk into a room has long been believed to be a sign that something dark could be lingering nearby. Haunted legends in famous landmarks have witnesses that have smelled perfumes or the scent of cigars. We recently acquired an antique doll that the owners claimed would emit the smell of cotton candy whenever they returned home. Pay careful attention to these smells to find out their source, as more often than not they can lead you directly to the item suspected to be possessed.
Objects Moving on Their Own
This is the rarest and most definitive that you may be dealing with the otherworldly. Chairs rocking when there is no wind, doors opening and closing, items being moved to other places or rooms in the house, all of these occurrences require a great deal of energy. Pay close attention to the items that are moved during these incidents, as that is a great way to narrow down which item the being is attached to. Often pictures that are newly acquired but are always askew no matter how many times you fix them are the culprit of possession, much to the chagrin of their new owners.
Mysterious Noises
This one is a hard one to diagnose in the mystical field. Knocking could be completely normal in old houses settling, and animals in the attic could be the culprit of those footsteps you hear above you at 3 in the morning. Pay careful attention to these noises when they are in unison with other signs, or if you hear voices, your name being called, laughter, or singing and music (of course taking into consideration that you’re home alone and none of these noises are possible from your neighbors), you are probably dealing with a noisy spirit!
Pets or Children Interacting With the Unseen
Children are much more attune to the unseen than their adult counterparts, and most of us have imaginary friends from our youth to attest to this fact. Imagine instead that the imaginary friend Gus you had who lived in your bathroom was actually a spirit, and very much there! Children interacting with unseen beings, animals perking up and reacting in fear or curiosity when nothing is around, and strange behaviors are all signs that something otherworldly is happening. If you don’t have a pet or young child, invite over a friend and theirs. This can be an excellent way to pinpoint the exact item causing all of the trouble and get down to solving it for good.
Images in Pictures or Videos
Because of the amount of energy required to be seen by the naked eye, full apparitions are not very common. A way to circumvent this would be by using your phone camera and video feature. Pictures of the unexplainable have existed long before Photoshop and can be easily found by taking pictures of your own. Orbs, lights, blurry and fuzzy images, or unexplained shadows are clear signs that you may be dealing with a spirit. There’s only one way to find out, so go unleash your inner photographer!
